Message from the Muhlenberg County Clerk

Hello and welcome to our new Muhlenberg County web site!
Having been in office for over 20 years, I have been fortunate to see the
Clerk’s office move into the new age of technology. I’ve worked hard to integrate the new technology into a
user-friendly environment for the public, as well as the employees. We are an office dedicated to public service.
It is our goal to further accommodate our patrons through the use of this web site and continually upgraded systems.
In an effort to make even more of our recorded documents accessible to patrons, I secured
grants from the Department of Library and Archives to digitalize the older records. Upon completion of this phase, we
will have successfully digitalized Deed records back to 1966, Mortgage records back to 1977, Miscellaneous records back
to 1983, Wills back to 1974, and Marriage records back to 1984. Our ultimate goal is complete digitalization of all
recorded records.
Renovations to the beautiful and historic Courthouse marked the move of the Clerk’s main
office to the lower level of Old National Bank and the opening of an Elections office in the old Remax building in 2009.
Renovations moved along in 2010 with the return and setting of the courthouse dome. Local news organizations along with
many residents witnessed this historic event. 2011 will see the return of the Clerk’s office, PVA, Judge Executive
and Sheriff’s offices into the newly renovated courthouse. Our new offices will afford additional space to each department and
the Licensing Department redesign should alleviate long lines, providing more efficient customer service. Our new offices will
include updated workstations, complete with state of the art computer systems.
So, log on or come by and visit our beautiful county, renovated offices, and newly restored
historic courthouse. I look forward to seeing you!
